Many people have grown weary after trying many Data Entry programs only to have lost their time and money. It is very easy to get scammed on the Internet now days. Whenever there is a lot of people that are making money, the old scammers will come to get their share.

It is good to see people at least trying to do some fundamental research. You can see the phrases being searched for by checking the online search engines. They are phrases  such as data entry scams, data entry job scams, data entry online scams and data entry work at home scams.

I have written in many of my articles that research is the key in my opinion. No one has a crystal ball, but with the proper research you can put yourself in the best chance for success. You can't just join the first program you find  that promises you the world, and expect to be successful. You will either have to find a website like mine, but not necessarily mine,  that has done some research for you or spend the hours to do the research yourself. It's that simple, otherwise you can expect to have limited success.

In my research I wanted Data Entry companies that had good, customer support,  product, track record of on time payments, step-by-step guidance on how to be successful with their program and a money back guarantee when possible. I also encourage feedback from my customers to ensure that if there is any change I am able to respond quickly.

There is another side to this whole scam thing. Many times people will see the ads, join a program, not do any work and expect to be paid a lot of dollars. It's simple if you are not prepared to do any work at home, then don't join, because chances are you are not going to be happy or make any money. The folks that join under these circumstances typically end up quitting and calling the program a scam and move on to lose some money somewhere else. Many times programs are called scams when actually its either someone wanting to get paid for doing nothing or it's simply not a good fit for that person. That's why I particularly like the money back guarantee programs, because this minimizes this problem. Sometimes when a company gives the person the refund, it does not help, because the person goes around on forums posting that they have been scammed anyway. Sad!

It's sad because viable programs get scammed and lumped in with the really bad programs that are out there. There is plenty of the bad ones out there already without anyone adding to the list. You need to either do the research or use a website that has done it already to have a chance for success.

If you are reading this article you more than likely have the skill sets and equipment necessary to work from home doing data entry.

American Consumer Opinion has been around for about 10 years.  It's a legitimate site, but, unfortunately, does not offer a lot of money.  There are several pros and cons to joining American Consumer Opinions:

Pros: 

- The site is open to international residents.  You don't have to live in the United States to participate and there is no age limit, although since many of the surveys pertain to work and other adult-oriented activities, teenagers will find the questions boring;

- There is a steady flow of both short surveys and longer questionnaires available to participants;

- Your information is private; they will never try to sell you anything, spam your mailbox with ads or telephone you.;

- The site has been around a long time and is respected in the marketing community.


Cons:

- There is no guarantee of earning anything for completing the short surveys, only an opportunity to win cash in a monthly drawing.  To date, I haven't won anything.  Only one person wins each month and the winner receives $250;

- You don't get to pick which surveys you want to complete, you'll receive them by e-mail;

- There are times when the site goes "down" in the middle of your survey, which means you have to take the entire thing over again.  The reason the American Consumers give for this is that the site is experiencing "too much traffic."  But it is extremely frustrating.

The company performs research for a variety of corporations around the world, including fast food chains, railroad corporations and airlines.

One creative way to make money with this site, instead of merely participating in the surveys, is to become an affiliate of the company.  This can be done by filling out a form via e-mail and asking to have a banner, or link posted to your website.  The company pays 75 dollars for every person who joins the site when clicking on to your ad.

If you have an independent website or blog, this is an easy way to make a few extra dollars as the amount paid to affiliates is considerable as compared to other companies that offer the same incentive.  But the person has to sign up to join the site, not simply click on the ad.  Once you have accumulated $75 in affiliate fees, the company will send you a check.  Monies paid to affiliates are made on a monthly basis. 

On a scale of one to ten, I'd have to rate this site a five.  It's not a big money maker, but is totally legitimate, private and, using the affiliate program, is a painless way to make a few extra dollars online.

Last week I talked about the importance of finding your niche. I mentioned how significant it was to feel passion and interest in your business idea. I received quite a few emails asking for more clarification. So I am writing this next new article to provide more information on finding a niche, but more importantly I am going to show you a tool that will help you determine the perfect niche business idea.

First let's talk about what a niche is, why it is important and how you should narrow the field. A niche is a focused area of concentration. A niche could be about orchids whereas a topic, or non-niche, would be flowers. Orchids are focused. Flowers are topics.

It is important to find your niche in business because it answers extremely relevant questions. You must know who your customers are and what they want from you. Choosing a niche almost immediately fills in all blanks about your target market. Knowing your customer and their problems will allow you to offer solutions. Solutions are products or services that you offer to a group of targeted individuals.

Narrowing down your niche can be hard. Start by writing down all the things you love to do and enjoy in life. Include life experiences, jobs, skills, interests and passions. Really dig in and take the time to think of lots of ideas. Get specific. Ask others what they think your niche is. You may find some really surprising answers!

2. Keyword Density

You must use the keywords and keyword phrases you choose throughout your web site content. Keyword density is important for search engines to "feel" their way to your site. Web site content should have at least ten to fifteen percent keyword density for search engines to rank them high in their results.

Keyword density is the number of times a keyword or keyword phrase is used in an article. The number varies depending on the number of words used in an article. An effective article must have a keyword density that is not too high or too low. With a very high density, the essence of the article is lost and may turn off a reader as well as search engines. It comes off as overeager, and a low number may be ignored by the search engines.

3. Good Article Content

Like what is stated above, you cannot just riddle an article with keywords. They must also be regarded as good reading material. Articles must be able to entertain people as well as provide good information and help for their needs. Articles should be written well with correct spelling and good grammar. If you want people to trust you, make sure your writing is well thought out.

People respond well to figures, facts and statistics. Try to get great information and as many facts as you can. A good and well written article will boost your reputation as an expert in your chosen field or topic. As more people believe in you. They will be able to trust you and your products.

4. Linking Articles

Here's another important thing to remember. If you are going to submit articles to e-zines and/or contribute your articles to newsletters and other sites, DON'T ever forget to include a link to your site. A little resource box with a brief description about you and your site should always be placed right after the articles you submit. The days of the above business plan working are long over. It might have worked in 1996, but in 2006 you're going to have to do a lot more to promote your new website. There are still free traffic sources out there, but they want something in return to link to your new site. Content.

This is where article marketing comes in. The concept is simple. You write an article that's relevant to your sites topic, inserting a link or two within the article or the articles footer, linking back to your website. Then you submit it to article directories. They in turn publish your article, giving you a RELEVANT link back to your site and possibly sending you some of their traffic.

Many of the article directories out there have a lot of good traffic to share. They also can really help your Google Page Rank when it comes time for Google to rank your site. Google wants to see INBOUND links to your site from other sites with similar content. So the links these article directories can give you are crucial to the weight of your website in the long run.

But the article directories are just the first stop for your article. Almost all of the article directories encourage other webmasters to republish your content on their own sites with similar topics. So one article can really turn into literally thousands of inbound links over the months ahead. This snowball effect is exactly what we are looking for with each article we write.

Article marketing is only as powerful as your commitment to it though. To really build your site's traffic and page rank you are going to need thousands, if not ten's of thousands of inbound links. One or two articles is not going to do this for you. It's going to take a daily time commitment on your part. As the owner of two different article directories, I can tell you that there are many article marketers out there submitting as many as ten articles a day in an effort to promote their websites. They obviously see the value of article marketing and they don't intend to do the job halfway.

"But Chuck! I can't write an article!" I hear this all the time from my customers. Frankly, it's an easy copout. What you're really saying to me is that you don't WANT to write articles. You don't have to be an ex journalism major to write a short article to promote your website. Heck, you don't even need to be a high school graduate. All you need to do is to be able to read and write. If you can't read and write then you probably don't need to be the owner of a website.

It's very simple. Sit down and write about the topic of your website. Hopefully when you built or purchased your website you picked a topic that you're at least interested in. It doesn't have to be a topic that you're familiar with, just something that interests you. If you're website's topic is something you know nothing about, do some research! Write an article sharing what you learned with other readers. You can start as simply as "I didn't know this, and you may not either…."

If you're suffering from severe writer's block, try using a tape recorder. Dictate things you would like to say about your site or your site's topic and then transcribe what you recorded later. You can take the recording and edit it in writing and come up with a good article.

The bottom line is this. If you want to promote your new website without spending thousands of dollars, you must integrate article writing into your promotion plan. Without it, your road to success is going to be a lot more bumpy.

These are time honored principles which have guided men and women throughout the ages to extraordinary achievements. On the surface seem simple enough... just focus on what you want! Hey, what could be easier than that? Well sometimes the simplest things aren't so simple but can teach us the most!

I've found that putting this into practice in real day to day life brings lots of learning! One area that has puzzled me for a while is this ... What if you really don't BELIEVE your positive thoughts??

I've often found myself making positive affirmations, or creating vivid mental pictures, but not really believing that they would ever happen!

One part of me says "think positive" The other part says, "naaah, I don't believe it!" Has this every happened to you? What do you do with that?

I had an experience recently that gave me some insight. A few weeks ago I began to upgrade my home office. There has been some exciting growth in my business this year, and my husband and I felt it was time that my outer reality more closely matched my inner reality.

So I got a spiffy new computer! This was very, very cool ... my first "real" one! Previous to this I built my business on a shoestring, with a teeny tiny (and VERY slow zzzzzzz ) laptop. Before that I shared a computer with my husband. All kinds of new possibilities were opening up now. I was thrilled!

The computer came, I set it up, and it became immediately clear that the table I had my laptop on would not work for the new computer. It was too cramped and created a messy look. So I went shopping and found exactly the right desk, which fit perfectly in my modest office space... yay!! It looked great, the price was right, and there was only one catch ...

The desk came in one of those long thin boxes that said "assembly required". :(

I am probably the least "handy" of all the people on the planet. I have little interest, experience, or inclination in matters of household carpentry. I've managed to squeak by several decades of life without having to deal with this directly, thanks to loving friends and family who have that wonderful "handy gene" that I am lacking! :-)

I can't stand household "handy person" stuff ... but I really, really, really wanted that desk! And I was under some time pressure because I needed to get the new computer set up. Sure, I could have called on my husband or my friends who could have helped me on the weekend, but I couldn't wait. I was determined that I was going to have this desk set up as soon as possible, carpentry challenged or not!

"I can do this" I said to myself. "I can do anything I set my mind to". I got the positive thinking juices flowing. I reminded myself of all the other things I've done that I didn't think were possible.

"Remember getting through graduate school Tamara? Remember getting your first check from your business?  Remember surviving three business failures before finding the right one?"  Surely putting together a computer desk would be much, MUCH easier!

I took some time to vividly imagine myself with a new desk, excited to be working with such comfort and ease. The more I imagined this, the better I felt.

I was excited and ready to roll! Confidently, I assembled my tools and laid the long, thin box on a table and opened the box. I was prepared for an exciting adventure of learning and success. I was unprepared for what happened next.

A loud and intimidating chorus of thoughts rose up, like a huge buzzing swarm of bees, flying everywhere and making lots of noise!

"Tamara, this will NEVER work"
"You aren't smart enough to figure this out"
"You're stupid to be trying this"
"Don't even bother to start, just give up!"

Hey, I wasn't expecting that! I could almost see them swarming around my head! OK well that wasn't going to stop me, so I continued on. I sifted through the unfamiliar pre-cut wood pieces, the strange looking metal objects which looked to my dismaying eyes like widgets from the planet Taelon ... and then I found the directions.

"OK now we're cooking" I thought, somewhat relieved, "Now I'll know what to do". I unfolded the directions and lo and behold they looked like they had been written in Chinese! Actually they were written in 5 different languages, none of them in Chinese, but the English part made NO sense to me!

"Insert dowel rod C into widget recliner base B" ... Yikes!! The typeface was very small, so you could hardly read the directions. There were elaborate diagrams which I couldn't make sense of. The buzzing bees got louder and the swarm got bigger.

"I told you, this will NEVER work!"
"You'll never figure this out, why bother?"
"Don't waste your time with this Tamara, just
give up!"

A wave of despair washed over me. Maybe this was going to be a real hassle. I started to feel tired.  "OK, I need to think positive" I said, straightening my spine, trying to whip myself into shape. "I CAN do this!"

I took another moment to vividly imagine myself with a new desk, excited to be working with such comfort and ease. The inner picture was kind of faded by now, and I couldn't drum up the feeling of excitement, but I imagined it anyways. By now, I didn't really BELIEVE it anymore! I had forgotten it all.

The "buzzing bees" escalated to a near fever pitch! They were all around me, so thick and loud I could hardly see.

"Tamara you're inadequate"
"You're deficient"
"You're stupid"

We all have our vulnerable spots and mine just had gotten prodded ... OUCH! "They're right" I thought, "Maybe I'm just not cut out for this".  I looked at the pile of strange wooden shapes and widgets from planet Taeolon (just kidding, they only looked that way!)

How easy it would be to just wait until the weekend and have my husband do it! Just close up that box and let someone else deal with it. What a relief! Hey taking a week off from my business wouldn't be so bad. No one will notice I'm gone." You get the idea ... it wasn't a pretty picture.  I put down the directions, and got ready to close the box ...

But wait! I suddenly remembered my vision of sitting at new desk, excited to be working with such comfort and ease. It felt so good! I couldn't give up now!

I rallied my forces and went to open the box again. The buzzing bees were screaming by now ... if bees could scream!! :-)

"Give up Tamara, you CAN'T do it!!!!!!!!"

They were really putting up a fuss and I confess, I almost did give up right there. I was getting ready to walk away from the whole thing. It was just too darned hard! I went to shut the box again and then I realized ... I just COULDN'T give up. Because I really, really, REALLY wanted that desk ... and I wanted it NOW!!!

I wasn't willing to give it up ... even if it was a hassle.  My desire to have the desk ASAP was STRONGER than all those "buzzing bees" that were yelling out all the reasons why I couldn't do it!

Once I realized this simple fact, I opened the box back up again. Failure was no longer an option for me. I said a prayer, and ignored the "buzzing bees", which no longer intimidated me. Now I focused all of my attention and intention on figuring out those crazy directions! It took a while, but once I relaxed it was actually kind of fun!

I went very, very slowly, made a few mistakes, learned a lot of great stuff. Voila, in less than two hours I HAD a new computer desk!! I felt fantastic, excited, and very empowered. AND I had learned several new skills ... Including how to assemble a desk!

And yet I almost gave up, I was that close to missing out on so much great stuff. When you are focusing on positive thoughts and intentions, sometimes you run into your own "buzzing bees" ... negative thoughts that arise as you are moving towards your goals and dreams.

The old thoughts like to put up a fuss... but they can't win unless you let them. I look at the "buzzing bees" as a kind of cleansing process ... our mind begins letting go of the old beliefs and thoughts that no longer serve us.

It is the intention to transform our thinking, combined with the natural process of letting go, that creates the space for new thoughts and new beliefs. The releasing process itself can feel like an onslaught, an uprising of negativity. It can make you think you've messed up and gone in the wrong direction.

When the "buzzing bees" are being let out of their cage, it's very easy to BELIEVE what they say!!

What I learned is to stay connected to what I REALLY want. That "really want" is a feeling, an emotion, that goes beyond positive or negative thoughts. No matter how many "buzzing bees" are around, what we REALLY want is much stronger.

THIS is the key. You must REALLY, truly want it ... whatever your goal is. You must want it even MORE than you want other things!

What you TRULY want is part of your essence, of who you really are. Your essence is your own unique expression of YOU. This is the heart of our business and the heart of your business success!

There was a time when you could write a good article, submit it to hundreds, if not thousands, of directories and watch your profits grow. These days it is not quite so simple.
The easiest way to get your article published on a lot of directories quickly is to use an article submission service. It is possible to do it by hand but this is a laborious and tedious task, unless you submit to just a small number of directories.
There are many article submission services available online, both free and paid, or you can invest in software that will do the job for you. These can be effective but there is a danger that article directories will reject your content if they suspect you are using an automated submission method. In a worst case scenario you could be banned from submitting to the directory again.
So, if you are using an article submission service check that their methods will not cause you problems with the directories. If you are submitting articles yourself, do not submit too many articles to any one directory at the same time.
Duplicate content
An even bigger problem for article marketers is that the major engines now penalize duplicate content. In the past you could submit an article to 100 article directories and the likes of Google and Yahoo! would award you for having 100 backlinks to your website. You would also be awarded when the article was picked up and used by other websites. However, this has changed.
The search engines can now recognize duplicate content. So, even if your article appears on 1,000 different websites you will still only be awarded for one backlink. You will of course gain traffic that accesses your website directly through the link provided with your article. However, this makes it much more difficult to use article submissions as a search engine optimization tool.
The only way to get around this is to submit a unique version of each article you write to each article directory. Again, if you only submit articles to a small number of directories you could tweak each article yourself so you have a number of different versions. However, if you are submitting to hundreds of directories this is out of the question.
It is not really known just how much an article needs to be changed to become unique. Some argue simply switching paragraphs within an article is enough, while others think that the text within the paragraphs needs to be changed too.
There are a number of possible solutions to this problem. Many article submission services have been quick to move to address this issue. As well as submitting your articles to multiple article directories they will also create different versions of each article for you or provide you with a tool for doing so yourself.
Alternatively, you could invest in some software that helps with the re-writing of articles. These are also known as article spinners and will automatically replace words with other words of a similar meaning. For example, the word 'small' might be changed with the word 'little' and so on. However, the software needs to be configured to do so manually. Others will simply change the order of paragraphs in articles. This can also be very time consuming and may not do enough to make the different versions unique in the eyes of the search engines.
One final option could be to get outside help. There are many websites such as elance.com and getafreelancer.com where you can post rewriting projects for professional writers. The quality of the work will vary but rates can be quite cheap.
It may be a good idea to try out these methods and see how they work for you. You will have to invest some money but it will be worth it if you find a workable solution to duplicate content.

Finding the best high-quality article directories that meet your specific needs and match your specific goals can greatly increase the power of your article marketing campaign. You need to become a savvy article marketer to maximize your article marketing campaign.
Great, but how do you find those high-quality directories?
When I first embarked on article marketing I went straight to people who had been article marketing for a while and asked them for their top recommendations. I posted the question in a couple forums that I regularly check. I quickly assembled a list of hundreds of sites. Now obviously this list is much more manageable than the 17+ million I got from Google but still rather large. First I culled through and found the sites that were mentioned by more than one person and that list became my starting point. I then gathered as much information as possible to determine if they were right for me. I will share my criteria and priorities but you need to work out your own.
Here are the 10 essential questions I ask when reviewing a site:
1. How old is the directory? Is it well established and ranked or is it new and growing? If not then I cross it off the list.
2. Can you easily identify who owns and/or operates the directory? Is there a way to contact that person?
3. How fast do they respond to your email contacts and/or article posts?
4. How many authors does the site have listed? A lot of authors and articles mean a well established site but there may be room on a growing site for more exposure.
5. How many articles does the site have listed? Again a big site won't get knocked off my list for this but a small site that is growing steadily might be due for a good seo bump soon.
6. Think about the categories you are likely to need and see if they exist. Is there a place to submit all your articles? If this is a niche directory it may be very narrow but then might also be to your benefit in the long run -- if at least some of your articles fit within the niche.
7. What special options does the site offer visitors and publishers? Do they provide RSS feeds, email alerts, forward to a friend function and other strategies to increase the distribution of your articles?
8. Are they responsible with the advertising clients they have on their site? ie: No popups, flashing, or offensive ads
9. Do they provide article reports to help you see which articles are getting viewed, rated, distributed or not?
10. How do the search engines view this site?
After visiting each directory and answering these questions it is easy to refine your list to a handful of top sites that you want to really concentrate your efforts upon. You can also maintain some a list of additional sites to submit to as time allows.
I also regularly re-evaluate my top article directory list. I check my backlinks and the directory stats to see how my articles are doing. Some sites move up and down my priority list (or even off the list entirely) when I investigate how they are performing for me.

When you become the leading authority in your field, people seek you out. Speaking trainer Burt Dubin says, "There's no point in being a fine marketer until you have expertise to offer. And your expertise has gotta be in a specific niche. A niche where folks with cash in their jeans recognize your value and are willing to invest in what you alone know. Here's how to select your niche: identify the topic or issue in which you're willing to do endless and ongoing research for a market with the means to pay you."

After speaking recently in the Women's Economic Development Outreach event, someone in the audience hired me for a speaking engagement for their group. If they hadn't seen me speak in person, it's very unlikely that this person would have contacted me.

3. Attend Events - Go to the events that your ideal clients attend and mingle with the decision makers who could hire you. "The Transition Man" Johnny Campbell says, "Research the event ahead of time. Know who will be in attendance. Have a hit list of people you want to connect with. Johnny likes to go to chamber meetings and sit at the far end so he goes last introducing himself. That way he can listen first to who is in his audience and tailor his 30 second introduction. Once he did this and a gentleman was so impressed that he immediately handed him a business card and said, "Call me."

4. Speaker Directories. There are websites that list speakers for a fee. Meeting planners sometimes go to these directories looking for a speaker on a certain topic.

5. Smile and Dial. Flipping the pages of a meeting planner directory and cold calling can drum up business. Most speakers who use this approach successfully make 40- 50 calls everyday. If you are smart about finding the
"right" targeted leads to call, this is especially effective.

7. Ask for referrals right from the platform. Keynote speaker and master certified coach, Rich Fettke says this when he speaks to groups "As you can tell, I am really passionate about what I do. If you know of a group who could benefit from this message, please hand me a business card afterwards."

8. Referrals. Ask for referrals from existing clients who have hired you to speak. If you ever have to lower your fee, you ask for letters of recommendation and referrals as part of the deal in exchange for the discount.

"Let your clients or customers know they are rewarded for referring folks who invest in what you offer. Give appropriate gifts, depending on the size of the ticket. I give a choice of gifts. My personal thought is that a heartfelt note, a Starbucks gift card, a phone call, or even flowers is a wonderful way to say "thank you - I appreciate your referral!"

9. Get on Your Prospect's Radar Screen. Top of mind status comes from word of mouth of your clients, being "seen" in the pages of print media, and from testimonials of audience members.

Know where your audience goes and be there. This includes your prospect's ezines, clubs, organizations, bulletin boards, and magazines.

10. Speaker Website. An effective speaker website gives a meeting planner everything they need to decide that you are the perfect speaker for their event. You'll want to include downloadable one sheet (brochure), testimonials, program descriptions, media coverage, results gained for other clients, and your speaker video.

Lillian D. Bjorseth, the Networking Expert, shared how she got a lead from a major company who wanted to hire her and found her on the website. The person came back to their planning committee who said, "You found her where?" "Have you even seen her speak? My reputation is on the line here."
